Alina Chirila is a self-taught analog photographer and psychotherapist living in Waterloo. She sees photography, literature, therapy, and printing as different ways of soul searching and defines her practice as an exploration of female experience and the division between the public persona and the private self. Her work strives to create temporary bonds between photography and experience itself. Over the years Alina’s fascination with film and traditional analog printing methods has grown and has led her to pursue and experiment with different methods of manipulating photographic materials.
